Abstract Mickey – 2020 16×12 inches £150 – Prints available click here

Acrylic/spray paint on canvas-I’m an admirer of Disney and the way they create their characters. Particularly Mickey, the shape of the head alone is recognisable globally. It is Iconic and the face of Disney, so I wanted to put my own spin on it. I wanted to incorporate a graffiti/street art feel I have been inspired by growing up in London. I also wanted to have a sense of mess to it but still keep the basic structure.

Abstract Sylvester – 2020 30×24 inches £250 – Prints available click here

Acrylic on canvas-I wanted to capture the same vibrancy as my Disney characters but bringing my roots of where art all started for me in graffiti and street art. Thinking of a way to integrate that into Sylvester was an idea I had as I like the design of Sylvester and wanted to create something with him. The white of his fur is a blank canvas in itself to create whatever I wanted to. I didn’t want to mimic the same colours of the loony tunes character and decided the soft grey with white was a great base. I wanted to add drips almost as an imperfect view of graffiti leaking from the design, such as drips from the head onto shoulder and falling from Sylvester’s right hand. Partner this with the subtle shadows to bring the painting to life.

Abstract Donald – 2020 27.5×19.75 inches £250 – Prints available click here

Acrylic on canvas-After finishing my abstract take on Mickey I wanted to expand on that with a bigger project in Disney characters. Having always had a soft spot for Donald I went with this classic silhouette. I decided to go with a composition of patterns and pictures within Donald with a fondness of the paisley pattern as the driving force. I also added parts of Donald’s design like his bill, eyes, bow and face within the design. Like Mickey I strayed from typical colours and kept the abstract colours only keeping the hat, bow and bill as the original colours. Not wanting the painting looking too clean I opted for a blotched and smeared outline almost like the painting is fresh from a printing press. I enjoyed creating something different and obscure not keeping within formation and structure.

Adventure Time – 2014 16×12 inches £100– Prints available

Acrylic/spray paint on canvas-I was inspired by the show for this painting. The art style of the characters within the show were so individual and to its own identity while keeping them so simple. I wanted to pay homage to that and have the characters pop out with little detail, adding slight dimension to differ how we normally see them.

Monochrome Mickey – 2012 12×16 inches £75 – Prints available

Acrylic/spray paint on canvas-This was my first painting of Mickey and where painting Disney characters in different ways began. I liked the classic style of him such as seen in Steamboat Willy. The rough edges and print press look would contribute to the Donald painting seven years later. Not wanting to keep it two dimensional I added subtle shading and shadowing to keep Mickey standing out.
